Brad's Message - June 2024

 Greetings:

Your Lay Leader is really tired and is running on fumes.  I am still failing retirement, working an average of 50 hours a week during the month of June.  I have also dealt with surgeries on both legs, a new hernia, a back injury, an allergy to Latex, and Terri had Covid.  There was also numerous meetings as usual and a training at the Search and Rescue.  All in all, a full month.

So, I have decided to cut myself a break and recycle part of an old Trumpet Call article for the June Trumpet Call, especially since it is sync with my recent writings on Lent.

DEAD OR ALIVE?

Those of you who have been around for a while know that my favorite gospel is the Gospel of Luke.  Luke 24:5-6 is one of my especial favorites,  Why do you seek the living among the dead?  He is not here, he is risen!  I can just imagine the angel perplexed that so many people who had spent so much time with Jesus could be surprised by his resurrection.  I can imagine the women and the disciples trying to grasp the magnitude of what had just occurred.  Jesus did what?  These simple followers had moments to grasp what had just occurred.  We, who have had 2000 years to hear about it, read it, discuss it, aren’t doing much better.

Knowing what we know, that “He is Risen”, why do we routinely act as if Jesus was dead, like the resurrection didn’t occur?  Which leads me to my title for this article.  Do you behave like you are dead or alive?  If Jesus came back today, would he look for you among the living or the dead?  If you don’t know the answer to that question, it’s time to change things in your life and take a Walk with Jesus.   After all he has “Risen Indeed”.

May each and every one of you remember every day that Jesus has risen indeed and live every day alive, awake, and joyful,  focused on the miracle of his Resurrection.
